BETONG: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has granted approval for RM600,000 to fund the construction of two Rural Roads Network (JPD) projects in Semumok Baruh and Teguyu/Muman.

According to Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu, the projects are expected to be tendered in August.

“The first JPD project at Rumah Rozana Edward will utilise the approved budget of RM300,000 to rebuild the road surrounding the longhouse. The tender for this project is targeted to be awarded at the end of August.

“The other RM300,000 will be allocated for the JPD project at Rumah Nyalau, focusing on reconstructing the paved road from the main road junction to the longhouse. The tender for this project is also expected to take place in August.”

Dr Rapu made these remarks during a visit to the project sites, accompanied by Sarawak KKDW engineer Ir Shahrul Hisyam Ali on today (July 13).

During the visit, the group also inspected another JPD project site in Kampung Serembang, which involves the upgrading of a farm road.

However, Dr Rapu mentioned a minor issue that needed to be addressed regarding the project title. He expressed hope for an early resolution to ensure the simultaneous implementation of all JPD projects in the area.

Present during the visit were Layar Assemblyman service centre officer Murphy Hillary and the village head.
