Road closures and diversions for Kuching Marathon on Oct 1

KUCHING: The public are advised to plan their trips ahead for the Kuching Marathon scheduled for Oct 1 as several road closures will be in effect.

In a press release, Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said to facilitate the public route and ensure the safety of participants, several roads around the starting line and finishing point will be closed and diverted on Oct 1 from 12am to 10am.

The affected road sections are Persimpangan Jalan Main Baazar / Lebuh Wayang, Jalan Gambier / Jln Tun Abg Hj Openg / Jln Main Baazar, Jalan Lebuh Wayang / Jalan Wawasan, Jalan Borneo / Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Abell towards Jalan Padungan, Jalan Padungan from the direction of Bulatan Sri Aman, RTM traffic light / Jalan Satok towards Padang Merdeka, Jalan Haji Taha, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Masjid, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Tugu Kuching), the traffic lights at St Mary’s heading towards Lebuh Wayang and Jalan Mcdougall.

“To facilitate the installation of the starting and finishing gates, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Pearl, Jalan Barrack, and Jalan Wawasan will undergo closure at 10pm on Sept 30.

“Members of the public who intend to attend and witness the Kuching Marathon, it is recommended that they park their vehicles at designated areas: Reservoir Park, Taman Budaya, Green Hill, Bangunan Saujana, Medan Kereta Top Spot, Dewan Suarah, and Medan Letak Kereta Padang Jublee MBKS.

“Individuals with business in the vicinity of the event venue and Kuching city centre are urged to plan their travel schedules thoughtfully. Parking vehicles along the roadside, particularly in proximity to the starting and finishing zones, is strictly prohibited to prevent disruption to the race route,” ACP Ahsmon said.
