KUCHING: In conjunction with the Christmas Parade, happening today from 6pm to 10pm, there will be a number of road closures and detours in the city.
The parade, involving up to 8,000 people and 14 decorated vehicles, will begin from Jubilee Ground, Padungan.
The roads affected by the parade are Jalan Padungan, from Sri Aman roundabout to Jalan Abell, and from Jalan Lebuh Wayang to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman Yakub.
Meanwhile, the locations involved in the parade are Jalan Abell/Jalan Padungan traffic light, Jalan Lebuh Wayang traffic light, Ban Hock roundabout, Jalan Song Thian Cheok/Jalan Ban Hock traffic light, and Jalan Deshon.
Members of the public who wish to witness the parade can park their vehicles at designated parking spots such as the parking spaces on the left side of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang and parking lots in Jubilee Ground.
To avoid road congestions at the said closed location, the public are advised to plan their trips in advance. Cooperation from all parties is also required to ensure the smooth running of the event. Anyone who disobeys the traffic directives by the police would be subject to the Road Transport Act 1987.
