BINTULU: A collision between a motorcycle and a car along Permata 8 Lane here resulted in the motorcycle catching fire, leaving the pillion rider with a broken right leg.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) the 8.55pm incident last night (Dec 8) prompted an immediate dispatch of a team from the Kidurong station.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the motorcycle fully engulfed in flames, the aftermath of the collision.

While the pillion rider sustained a broken right leg, the driver of the car emerged unharmed.

The firefighting team successfully extinguished the blaze, utilising advanced fire fighting equipment and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.

They provided initial treatment to the injured motorcyclist before handing him over to the paramedics for further treatment.

The operations concluded at 9.58pm, after ensuring the situation was under control.

In a separate incident, a car in front of SMK Pending, Kuching was entirely destroyed by fire last night at 11.09pm.

The Padungan Fire and Rescue Department reported that the car was completely burned upon their arrival.

The firefighting team successfully extinguished the fire using two auxiliary water streams from the engine pump.

The operation concluded at11.34pm and after inspecting the surroundings and confirming there were no casualties or injuries, they returned to the station.
