SIBU: A teenager was arrested for performing dangerous stunts on the road during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’.

Sibu district police headquarters in their Facebook posting yesterday said that the operations involving five personnel from Sibu Traffic Investigation and Enforcement (BSPT), took place at Jalan Permai from around 4pm until 9pm.

“A total of 18 summonses were issued on various offences. The nabbed teenager was taken to the Traffic Section for further action.
“The offence is investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“If convicted can be sentenced to imprisonment not exceeding five years and fined not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM15,000,” the FB posting said.

Thus, they advised people not to perform dangerous actions on the road that could endanger their own lives and the lives of others.

“Information related to street gangsters can also be channelled to the BSPT Sibu to jointly curb this activity. The cooperation of the public is highly appreciated,” the post stated.
