SARATOK: One person was killed on the spot when a tanker lorry crashed into four motorycycles and five construction workers building the Pan Borneo Highway at Km 29 of the Saratok-Sarikei Road.
One of the workers died on the spot after being run over by the tanker lorry and was confirmed dead by medics from the Sarikei Hospital.
Two other workers were sent by public transport to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, two other workers were treated on the spot by medical personnel who came in an ambulance from Sarikei Hosptial as well as another ambulance from Saratok Hospital.
The driver of the tanker lorry ran off after the accident.
Firemen led by PBK II Yusuf B. Tamin rushed to the scene after being informed of the accident at 5.16pm. They later helped to clean up the accident scene.
