KAPIT: A 17-year-old teenager was fined RM1,000 for disobeying the pandemic quarantine order after he was found roaming around Taman Height Wednesday afternoon (Mar 10).

Kapit district police chief, DSP Freddy Stanislaus Bian, said while the boy was roaming around 4pm he was wearing a quarantine wristband issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

“The subject was under home quarantine but he went outside,” he said.

In a separate case, Freddy said four other men were fined RM1,000 each for sitting at a table set for two people in a coffee shop at Jalan Airport.

“The four subjects aged between 36 and 58 were not practising social distancing when enforcement officers came upon them at 6pm. They violated the conditional movement control order (CMCO) SOP,” he explained.

Freddy then urged the public to cooperate and inform the police if they find anyone with a quarantine wristband in a public place.

He also said operators of business premises should also report to the police if their customers do not comply with the CMCO SOPs such as not wearing face masks and not practising social distancing.

“Premises owners can also be compounded if they fail to control their customers and do not report to the police on the matter,” Freddy said.
