MIRI: Last Friday night was a big moment for Ronaldo Wan Lusat, when he was named as the champion for ‘Bintang Baram Regatta’ singing competition.
He sang ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ and brought home a cash prize of RM2,000.
Ronaldo, 25, is a Mountain Cave Search and Rescue (MOCSAR) crew based in Mulu.
Second place went to Gelvenia Kolan Lah who sang her favourite song – ‘Ati Nuan Aki Aku’ and walked away with RM1,500 in cash prize.
She was also named as the best performer and received a cash prize of RM500.
Meanwhile, Albert Jimbant, secured the third placing and bagged RM1,000 in cash.
Four other finalists – Tiong Jie Yii, Esther Houng, Elvin Darrel Ekong and Mohd Fifi Amiera each received cash of RM500.
On hand to present all the prizes was Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala and Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.
A total of 14 participants competed at the final stage of the event.
