SIBU: The basketball court at SMK Bukit Assek is set to undergo upgrades to improve the comfort of its students.
Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek announced that the school had approached him with their concerns.
In response, Chieng allocated RM50,000 from the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to carry out the necessary improvements to the basketball court.
“We will begin the upgrading work as soon as possible. The upgrades are necessary due to the poor condition of the soil, which not only causes discomfort for the students but also poses safety hazards,” said Chieng to reporters at the ceremony where 36 high-achieving students from SMK Bukit Assek received awards for their performance in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination today (June 27).
Furthermore, Chieng reiterated his commitment to prioritising the development and maintenance of school infrastructure.
“We will continue to focus on creating an optimal learning environment and supporting the academic achievements of the students in the constituency,” he said.
