KUCHING: The Sarawak Art Council (MSS) has launched the MSS Integrity Week 2023 to promote understanding, appreciation and culture of integrity values among its members.
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan said MSS is vulnerable to accusations, slander and complaints that can lead to investigations, given its responsibilities.
“Therefore, it is my responsibility to always remind everyone in MSS, including myself, to appreciate the government’s existing policies, understand the aspirations and expectations of a Malaysia Madani, Sarawak Maju Makmur, understand the regulations that have been set and ensure that the programmes and activities planned are implemented successfully.
“In conjunction with MSS Integrity Week, I would like to touch on the issue of integrity in carrying out responsibility and trust in any matter, especially to civil servants.
“Integrity, especially in the MSS and society in general, is very important considering that every decision made and action taken must be implemented with full trust, honesty, transparency, no conflict of interest, no element of abuse of power, accountability and compliance with rules, guidelines and the law that is in force.”
Snowdan said this while speaking on behalf of minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at the programme’s launching ceremony here on Tuesday (Oct 24).
The programme, which runs from Oct 23 to 27, is designed to strengthen the value of integrity among MSS employees.
Among the activities carried out were an Integrity Motivation Talk titled ‘Mistakes under the MACC Act 2009’, a sharing session on ‘Whistle Blowing Policy and No Gift Policy’ delivered by officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and many more.
