Sarawak braces for rainy days in the coming week

KUCHING: Sarawak is expected to experience light and heavy rains including thunderstorms throughout Thursday and also in the coming few days.

According to the Malaysia Meteorology Department, the whole country will experience rains in a few spots.

On Thursday, for Sarawak, Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu and Miri divisions will have rain in the morning except for Limbang.

In the afternoon, thunderstorm is expected in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu and Miri.

Limbang, meanwhile, will be hit by downpours in few spots in the division from afternoon until night.

The department also stated by night, divisions of Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu and Miri will experience rains.

There will be no rain in Kuching, Serian and Samarahan divisions at night.

The wind speed is about 20 to 30 kilometres per hours South East from the South China Sea towards Sarawak.

In addition, from Sept 30 until Oct 4, the whole state is expected to face heavy rains and also thunderstorms.

According to the data from the department, it will be happening in a few areas throughout each day especially in the rural parts of the state.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms are expected to hit the northern and western coast of Sarawak throughout the said dates.
