MIRI: The Sarawak government has approved several Projek Rakyat for the Bekenu state constituency.

Disclosing this on today, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus said the projects were approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Among the projects are the proposed construction of the running track and grandstand at Subis Mini Stadium costing RM19mil, the Observation Tower Centre and Mini Gallery at Tusan Beach costing RM6.6mil and the upgrading of Al-Jabbar Sepupok Niah Mosque amounting to RM7,238,608.40.

Rosey, who is also Bekenu assemblywoman, added that once completed, the projects would benefit her constituents greatly.

“Last week, I visited and inspected one of the Projek Rakyat at Niah National Park together with Subis District Office and Subis District Council officials…a project costing RM58,327,600.

“We also inspecting the Sungai Niah Bridge project in Niah National Park, which includes footpaths and buggy trails costing RM52mil,” she added.

The upgrading of Niah National Park facilities would cost RM6mil while the refurbishment of four units of officers quarters costs RM327,600.
