BETONG: Sarawak is saddened by the loss of Ujang Ijau, a former member of the Sarawak Rangers, who passed away at his home near Rumah Panjang Radin Wilson in Penebak Ulu Layar on Sunday.
His fourth child, Gulang Ujang, confirmed that Ujang had kidney disease and would have turned 96 on August 25.
The family is deeply grieving the loss of their beloved father, who made many sacrifices throughout his life.
“He was a very responsible person, and his passing is deeply felt by all the family members,” said Gulang when contacted.
After serving with the Sarawak Rangers, Ujang settled in the village, working as a farmer, and raising seven children.
The funeral will be held on Thursday morning at the Penebak Christian Community Cemetery, Ulu Layar.
