KUCHING: A total of 405 new construction projects and 3,077 house repairs under the Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) in the Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan 2021 have been implemented throughout Sarawak.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Tuesday (March 8), Minister of Rural Development Datuk Seri Madhzir Khalid stated that this was one of the government’s efforts to address poverty and close the inequality gap among the low-income group, especially in rural areas.

“The target for Sarawak PPRT programme this year under the second Rolling Plan is to build 700 new houses and repair 3,125 houses,” he explained in a written reply to a question posed by Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang in Parliament recently.

“Besides that, the ‘Quick Win’ Program under the Community Development Department (Kemas) is also implemented to improve existing skills in an effort to increase the income of participants as well as help those who want to start a business.”
