KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) and the Timorese Manpower Agency have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance various talent development initiatives for the benefit of secondary school leavers and working adults in Timor-Leste.
Held last February 13 at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste here, the signatories of the MoU were Hallman Sabri, executive director of Sarawak Skills and Datuk Dr Nasir Latif, CEO of the Timorese Manpower Agency. Her Excellency Joana Veneranda Amaral (Ambassador of Timor-Leste in Malaysia), Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Husain (chairman of Sarawak Skills) and Datuk Maznah Dasmi (secretary of the Sarawak Skills Management Council) witnessed the signing of the MoU.
Commenting on this latest development, Hallman, who is also chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC), highlighted, “The MoU paves the way for Sarawak Skills and the Timorese Manpower Agency to synergise substantial expertise and resources for the purpose of facilitating various talent development initiatives, especially in the area of providing skills training for the benefit of secondary school leavers and working adults in Timor-Leste. Indeed, the doors of opportunity are open for both parties to explore a wide range of joint activities covering the broad spectrum of workforce training, research, and programme development.”
He added furthermore this collaboration was in line with BIMP-EAGA’s education and social cluster.
