KUCHING: The Sarawak State Library has engaged in the All-Malaysian Library Convention led by its contingent leader Ramdzan Saman and Dayangku Hadzimah Awangku Ahmad.

The event jointly organised by the Malaysia Public Library Board of Directors (MPAM) in collaboration with the Malaysia National Library (PNM) and Librarians Association of Malaysia (PPM) was held in Penang from Sept 5 to 10.

Some 40 contingents from the State Library were involved in the convention with the theme of ‘Cultural Identity Cares for Info’.

Various programmes were held such as seminars, exhibitions, workshops and skilled speaking competitions, wandering storyteller, beach sports, people’s sports, people’s feasts and casual chat.

Assistant librarian Nur Farhan Aini, representing the State Library, obtained the silver medal (runner-up) for the skilled speaking competition while the other library contingents have also obtained several medals through mixed group categories of all states.

This All-Malaysian Library Convention was held for the first time by the Penang Public Library Corporation as the host and next will be Johor in 2024.
