Sarawak, various international partners set to ink MoU

KUCHING: In support of the Sarawak government’s digital economy agenda, there will be 10 memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchanges between Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and various international partners.

The MoUs will be held during the second day of the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (Idecs) 2019 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will be present.

During the launching of Idecs 2019 yesterday, Abang Johari said the partners would assist the state to explore and research new digital initiatives to support the state’s digital economy agenda.

“There will also be one joint venture agreement (JVA) exchange between Sacofa and Datastream Technology Sdn Bhd (DST) of Brunei Darussalam. This is relating to providing high-speed retail Internet services in Sarawak.

‘And another MoU exchange between Sacofa and Xperanti on partnership for provision of Internet on Things (IoT) in Sarawak,” he stressed.

The Idecs 2019 themed “Envisioning Sarawak Future Living” is attended by 2,300 local and international delegates.

Keynote speaker for the conference is Dr Michio Kaku, a world-renowned futurist from the United States of America, and Inma Martinez, a digital and innovation strategist from Spain.

Others speakers are Janek Rozov, Dr Yogesh K Potdar, Professor Charles Fine, Vivek Varma B, Seah Han Yong, Joe Sidek, Khoo Salma Nasution, Dr Sachin Gupta, Dares Kittiyopas, Lizhou Ken Hong, Karen S Puah, Professor Jugdutt (Jack) Singh, Datuk Mark Rozario, Tay Kok Chin, Dr Ir Al-Khalid Othman, Freddy Lee, and Wenhui Yang.

Among the sub-themes discussed during the conference are Digital Government, Manufacturing Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, Tourism: Digital Heritage, Agriculture: Smart Farming, and E-commerce and Services Ecosystem.
