‘Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.’ – John F. Kennedy (1917 – 1963), the 35th President of the United States who was assassinated while riding in a motorcade in Texas.

THE state is poised to enter a new phase with the inauguration of a new Head of State on Monday, January 29, 2024. This ceremony signifies the beginning of a fresh era in governance and holds great significance in the state’s history.

The incoming governor, who will be the eighth in Sarawak, has been officially approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, as confirmed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The new governor will replace Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Although there hasn’t been an official statement confirming the candidate, one name stands out prominently: the former Senate president Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

This is hardly surprising, given his extensive background in politics and public service.

His wealth of experience is invaluable in navigating Sarawak through the complexities of the contemporary era.
