Sarawak Youth Day to feature youth talents

KUCHING: Sarawak Youth Day (HBS) is set to make an impactful return, featuring a range of activities aimed at highlighting the talents of Sarawakian youth.

The programme, scheduled from Dec 1 to 3, will take place at Dewan Suarah Kapit, as announced by Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. He said the programme serves as a platform for the government to discover new talents, unique skills, and the potential of Sarawak’s youth.

Additionally, it aims to recognise and appreciate the achievements of youth who have significantly contributed to the state.

“With this organisation, HBS will be another indicator that shows the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development is always committed to providing the best for the people of Sarawak under the theme of ‘Belia Maju Sarawak Makmur’,” he told the media here yesterday.

Highlighting the objectives of this year’s programme, Abdul Karim mentioned the promotion of active youth involvement in enhancing the culture of public wellbeing.

The event will also provide a platform to showcase clubs, associations, and skilled individuals in Sarawak.

“The programme aims to give exposure to Sarawak’s youth, especially in areas such as entrepreneurship, health, and competitiveness through exhibitions and educational activities.

“Furthermore, it will assist small entrepreneurs among the youth in generating income through the sale of various local and commercial products after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

He expressed his hope for overwhelming support from the locals, adding with the support given, the programme would surely be successfully implemented and achieve its targeted goals.

The programme is set to be inaugurated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Dec 2 in the morning. In the evening, a ‘SOUL CONCERT’ is scheduled, featuring renowned singers such as Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Zaki Yamani, Dewi Seriestha and many others.
