KUCHING: The Matang District Scout Council (MDSC), in collaboration with the N6 Tupong Hawkers Association, cooked mung bean porridge yesterday (April 1) to coincide with the month of Ramadan.

They managed to distribute a total of 1,500 containers of mung bean porridge to visitors to the Ramadan bazaar in Metrocity, Jalan Matang, on the same day.

Present to hand out the porridge were Matang District Scout Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abol and the N6 Tupong Hawkers Association chairman Khairuzie Bolhassan.

According to Abdul Rahim, this annual event of the Matang District scouts was one of the ways that can strengthen friendships and further foster visitors’ interest in the Scouting movement.

“We hope that the youth who are involved in making this programme a success will be interested in becoming scouts under the rover crew section.

“We also greatly appreciate the active role played by the MDSC members and the support of Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, who is also the patron of the MDSC,” he said.

After distributing the porridge, the scout members then broke their fast and performed Maghrib prayer together with Fazzrudin.

During the break of fast, some of the main scouting activities that will be implemented involving the youth were discussed with Fazzrudin for his support.

MDSC secretary Khairool Aziman Tuah, MDSC councillor member Mohd Nizam Abdul Kadir, and scout leaders were also present at the event.
