MIRI: Three government agencies are taking part in a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation to look for a 58-year-old man who was reported missing from his longhouse at Rumah Edward Usah, Sungai Sebindang Bok, Tinjar, Baram.

The SAR team comprises firefighters from Lopeng Fire Station led by Terry Robson, a team from Bakong police station and Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel and longhouse residents.

The man was reported missing on Monday night after he failed to return from a toilet located near the longhouse.

The victim identified as Bengkong Buntak was last seen around 8pm that night walking to a toilet with a torchlight.

According to Zone 6 Fire chief, Law Poh Kiong, a SAR team was immediately formed following a distress call made by the victim’s daughter, Winnie.

As at press time, members of the SAR team are still looking for the missing man.

A source said that Bengkong’s wife passed away last January and since her passing, Bengkong has changed a lot.
