BANGKOK: Sarawak Energy Berhad’s (SEB) involvement in the Future Energy Asia 2024 provides the electric utility company with the opportunity to share its expertise with others.
Chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili disclosed that SEB is a bronze sponsor and they have set up an exhibition booth at the energy forum.
He also said group chief operating officer James Ung and senior vice president for Strategy and Corporate Development Dr. Chen Shiun were invited as panellists to share their insights and expertise.
“This is a very good event and platform for SEB to collaborate with like-minded organisations in helping the whole ASEAN region transition to a greener economy.
“As one of the biggest proponents of green energy development, SEB aspires to be the regional energy powerhouse.
“We are also eager to share our experience and expertise with neighbouring countries so that the whole ASEAN region can transition to a new future,” he told the New Sarawak Tribune on Thursday (May 16).
Noting how Sarawak is blessed to have all the conditions to develop renewable energy, Sharbini said the strategic shift to renewable energy in the late 1980s further paved the way for the state to develop its renewable energy potential.
“In Sarawak, we are very lucky that we have all the condition for us to develop renewable energy. Our strategic shift to renewable energy in the late 1980s allowed us to develop Sarawak’s renewable energy potential.
“Today, our (energy) generation mix comprises 70 per cent hydropower, and we will be developing more renewable energy in the state,” he said.
