BINTANGOR: The construction of the Temadak Phase II water treatment plant here is proof of the state government’s efforts in ensuring that the people of the district have sufficient water supply.

Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the new water treatment plant will indirectly reduce the disruption of water supply in the area and provide quality water supply to accommodate the people’s daily needs.

“The lack of clean water is a major problem faced by the people. This problem poses a nuisance to the residents due to the loss of water supply or irregular supply.

“In this issue, we are always looking for ways to solve it, including building the second Temadak Water Treatment Plant,” he told reporters after visiting the plant site yesterday.

He also added that the new plant will allow the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Bintangor to provide clean water supply with a capacity of 15 million litres per capita per day compared to just 10 million.

Besides that, the process of how clean water is processed at the plant will be sent to the Chemistry Department of Sibu in the near future to be analysed.

“At the same time, I will try to seek cooperation from the Utilities Ministry, to help us upgrade existing water pipelines. This step is very important to solve leakage problems which is a major cause of disruption of water supply in this area.

“I hope with this, all issues of water supply for Bintangor areas will be resolved,” he said.
