KUCHING: Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak (Sedar) insists giving cash to the people on a monthly basis is “very achievable and the party will prove it”.

Its president Datuk Othman Abdillah said the monthly cash initiative was not picked out of the “moon”.

“I can assure you that whatever Sedar plans to do is well thought out, balancing the available resources of Sarawak and the urgent need to ease the daily burden of the people.

“What we are planning that’s good for the people is only the ‘moon’ to those who have been living in the clouds of power for so long now, oblivious to the sufferings on the ground,” he pointed out.

Othman was responding to Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who told Sedar to be responsible and not promise the “moon” to the people.

Recently, Othman claimed that if Sedar wins 82 seats in the next state election, RM100 would be given monthly to all Sarawakians aged 18 and above.

He further said the RM100 would be increased to RM300 or RM500 “in due time” under Sedar’s Sarawak People’s Rights Fund programme.
