SEDC brings joy to orphans

KUCHING: A total of 71 orphans from the Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Orphanage, Kuching and Datuk Ajibah Abol Orphanage, Sri Aman received donations from the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).

This was one of SEDC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, engaging the less fortunate, including the children at the orphanages.

Head of State Tun Pehin Seri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib presented the donations to the orphans at the Grand Margherita Hotel here on yesterday night (April 5).

The programme started with the breaking of fast at Meisan Restaurant, followed by the Maghrib prayers at Dewan Asajaya, and the presentation of the donations and gifts to the children.

The guests who attended were also treated to a Ramadan buffet themed ‘Macam-Macam Ada’ at the Poolside Pavillion. Moreh (supper) event was also held after Ishak and Tarawih prayers.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain, SEDC general manager Datuk Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir and Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai were also among those present.
