SEDC distributes ‘duit raya’ to children

KUCHING: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) continues its corporate social responsibility programme by providing assistance to the less fortunate during Ramadan.

A total of 84 children from the Datuk Amar Hajah Laila Taib Welfare Complex here received ‘duit raya’ and school supplies during a ceremony at a hotel here last night (Apr 4).

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the event which began with the exchange of the official letter of cooperation between SEDC and Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS), followed by the handover of business zakat from SEDC to TBS amounting to RM600,000.

It then continued with the distribution of the Hari Raya assistance and school supplies to the children from the Datuk Amar Hajah Laila Taib Welfare Complex.

Also in attendance were Premier’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, and SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain were also present.
