KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the handover of business tithe (zakat) from Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) yesterday.
The business tithe (zakat) amounting to RM150,000 was handed over by SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain to TBS deputy general manager Bolhassan Iskandar Taibi at Dewan Asajaya, Grand Margherita Hotel here.
According SEDC, as part of its social corporate responsibility (CSR) a total of 102 children from Kompleks Kebajikan Datuk Amar Hajah Laila Taib (PERYATIM) were also invited for breaking fast at the hotel’s famous Macam-Macam Ada Buffet.
During the handover ceremony, SEDC also handed over financial contribution and school items for the children.
The ceremony included Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers for the Muslim guests.
Also present were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, SEDC board member Datuk Zaidi Mahdi, SEDC general manager Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir, Land and Survey Department director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi and other dignitaries.
