KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing (pic) said he was distressed that there are Malaysians who have no compulsion in inviting, if not encouraging foreigners, to meddle in Malaysia’s internal affairs.

Masing added that although some of the Barisan Nasional leaders may be evil in some instances, the foreigners are not much better.

“Let us seek remedial actions to right the wrong internally and in ways befitting our cultures,” he said.

Masing was commenting on the 1MDB financial issues  in response to the US Department of Justice’s (DoJ) latest civil suit to seize assets amounting to US$540 million (RM2.3 billion), including a number of luxury items believed to be embezzled from 1MDB.

The DoJ’s first suit was filed in July last year when Washington sought to confiscate more than US$1 billion (RM4.28 billion) in connection with Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund (1MDB).
