KUCHING: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) together with Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) is exploring the way forward to expand business and collaboration opportunities in SBC’s LitSara as well as community projects related with bioresources.

SBC received delegates from TERAJU led by its chief executive officer Datuk Md Silmi Abdul Rahman who was accompanied by head of programme Zarifhadi Bujang, senior executive Nadia Farzana and TERAJU Sarawak executive Suriyadi Muhammad Nasir yesterday.

“Our senior research officer Margarita Naming introduced the delegates on useful and interesting plants utilised by the indigenous communities in Sarawak.

“The delegates also visited the established Algae Cultivation Facility, Natural Product Library and IBRB Gallery on Thursday,” SBC said.

SBC also said during the visit Md Silmi planted the LitSara essential oil producing tree, the litsea cubeba which is known as Pahkak in Bidayuh and Tenem in Lun Bawang as well as Kelabit.

“We are grateful that the LitSara project is also jointly supported by TERAJU,” it added.
