MIRI: The Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Adventure Convey (KMJG) which made a brief stopover here was flagged off at the Miri Islamic Complex yesterday to continue their journey as part of the programme to enliven the atmosphere of the National Month celebration.

Deputy Minister of Women and Children Development Datuk Rosey Yunus flagged off the convoy.

Rosey delivering her speech.

The convoy carrying the Jalur Gemilang circled the city accompanied by traffic police before proceeding to Limbang and Lawas and then to Sabah.

Rosey noted the event was “an example of diversity in unity or from another point of view, unity in diversity”, with the concept of togetherness as ‘Segulai Sejalai’ as its axis.

“We should be proud because Sarawak has set as an example for Malaysia and even the world from the aspect of unity among the multiracial and multireligious communities,” she said in her brief speech.

She called on Miri residents to fly the Jalur Gemilang in every government, private premises, village, longhouse and even on their vehicles to show the spirit of love for the country and enhance the celebration of the National Month.
