TATAU: Voters in the constituencies of Selangau, Kakus and Tamin have been reminded to not repeat past mistakes when the 15th General Election (GE15) comes around to avoid being deceived by the Opposition’s false promises.

Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai stressed that the polls were not a platform for voters to conduct experiments because the impact would be huge as it not only affected folk in the area but also the state and country.

“The rakyat need to realise that the Opposition is only good at giving empty promises to attract votes while Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) helps the rakyat in looking after their welfare.

“That is why it is crucial to make sure what happened in 2018 does not happen again. The experience that we went through all these years should be a lesson to us in the Selangau, Kakus and Tamin areas.”

Sikie said this during a programme at Rh Jampi Iran, Nanga Bulu on Friday (June 24).

He emphasised that a win in all 31 GPS seats in the coming GE was important to restore Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 along with obtaining development funds from the federal government.

During the event, Sikie allocated Minor Rural Project funds of RM20,000 and RM5,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee and Rh Jampi Women’s Bureau respectively.
