Senior cop injured in car-ambulance crash

KUCHING: A senior police officer sustained injuries following an accident involving a car and an ambulance at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce traffic light here this morning.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Bingkok John, in a statement, said the 45-year-old driver was taken to SGH for treatment to injuries on her right hand and chest.

It was reported that the victim is attached to Kuching police headquarters (IPD).

He stated that the 11.35am accident happened when the ambulance was carrying a stroke patient from Sri Aman to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“The ambulance was hit on the front left by a car driven by the victim, who was driving from Green Road to Batu Lintang,” he said.

During the crash, the victim was driving her car alone while the ambulance had five persons aboard namely the driver, two attendants, the patient and a family member of the patient.

Bingkok said the ambulance driver and his passengers did not sustain any injuries.
