KUCHING: A leadership course was held for local dailies, New Sarawak Tribune (NST) and Suara Sarawak (SS), here Wednesday (Dec 6).
The two-hour talk on ‘How to Be a Real Success’ was delivered by Yast Group founder cum chairlady Esther Law, focusing on leadership skills and charting ways to achieve success for an organisation.
Speaking briefly at the programme, NST and SS chief executive officer Datuk Dr Jeniri Amir said the leadership course has been meticulously designed to empower employees with the skills, knowledge, and mindset required to navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with leading in the media industry.
“As we embark on this journey, I want you to reflect on the impact you can have as leaders in the media. Your decisions, your vision, and your ability to inspire others will shape not only your organisations but also the narratives that influence our community, the state and the nation at large.
“This is a tremendous responsibility, but it is also a unique privilege.
“So, let us embrace this opportunity, learn from each other, and emerge from this course not just as leaders but as trailblazers in the media industry,” said Dr Jeniri.
A group session was also conducted to test communication, time management and leadership skills among the employees, which included the top management, editors, sub-editors, chief reporters and deputy chief reporters as well as senior managers of both dailies.

Throughout her entrepreneurial journey of over past 25 years, she has been awarded multiple international recognition such as Toastmasters International District 51 “Most Outstanding Toastmaster of the Year” (2004-2005), Ten Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards (TOYM) 2014, and CSR Leader, McMillan Woods Global Awards 2017.
