KUCHING: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd group will continue to inspire Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students and graduates to help spur the country’s human capital development. The group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah encouraged the local youth and TVET graduates to equip themselves with the necessary skills that are in demand within the main industries.

“TVET will help produce highly talented skilled workforce and plays an important role to empower technology development in the country,” said Mohd Abdul who also chaired Kuching Polytechnic Industry advisory committee.

His speech text was read by the group’s vice president for special projects Dr Mohamed Ackiel Mohamed during the fourth session of the 27th Politeknik Kuching Sarawak Convocation ceremony at the campus here yesterday. Mohd Abdul added that the youth have no choice but to adapt and master 4C skills — Critical thinking and problem solving, Communication, Collaborative and Creativity — as TVET is expected to address the nation’s economic and social development demands.

“They have to adapt for better career opportunities that are relevant to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). “Preparing oneself with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, communication, collaborative and creativity skills will not only prepare the youth for the future labour market but also for nation building,” he explained. On the lack of trained, skilled and qualified workers in the industries, Ackiel opined that Malaysia was still lacking in digitalisation and hoped Serba Dinamik would be the catalyst in high tech skilled workforce. “There is a need to retain the talents in our country.

The unemployment rate among TVET graduates has caused a serious brain drain,” he said on the high mobility of local skilled workers to other developing countries. To empower youth development in TVET for the nation’s future, he called on the federal government to intensify efforts in ensuring people are highly skilled and work in a safe and meaningful environment. “To have a meaningful environment, inspiration and motivation for youth development is essential by empowering family, religion and education insttutions,” he said.
