SERIAN: The ongoing project to complete the remaining construction of Masjid Bahagian Serian has achieved a 30 per cent completion milestone.

According to Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, the construction, valued at RM7.9mil, faced delays under the previous contractor due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The responsibility of completing the new mosque has been handed over to a new contractor, with a specified period of 12 months from Aug 14, 2023, to Aug 13, 2024.

“The project to finalise the remaining construction of the mosque has now reached 30 per cent,” he stated after his recent site visit to the project.

John further highlighted that the mosque, designed to accommodate 1,700 worshippers simultaneously, will feature amenities such as a seminar room, multipurpose hall, daycare centre, funeral management room, and other facilities.

Expressing congratulations and appreciation to the consultants, contractors, and all involved parties for their satisfactory performance, he stated, “I hope that the mosque can be completed within the specified period.”
