MIRI: Miri police believed they have solved several car theft and burglary cases with the arrest of five local men last week in Bekenu.

“Total losses estimated in these cases are RM178,000, and a team of Miri Criminal Investigations Department (CID) police personnel managed to retrieve stolen vehicles comprising a motorcycle (SM Sport 110); a Nissan Navara and Proton Saga FLX 1.3 during a raid at a fuel station near Jalan Simpang Bekenu on December 21 (Thursday) morning,” said Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement yesterday.

The raid was carried out at 5 am.

“Their modus operandi is to break into houses and steal vehicles early in the morning between 1am to 4am,” he said.

All three confiscated items were discovered in three separate locations.

“The Proton Saga FLX 1.3 was recovered from an oil palm estate in Kampung Subak, Bekenu, while the Nissan Navara was at Bukit Peninjau oil palm plantation,” he said.
