MUKAH: An elderly fisherman who was reported missing at sea after failing to return home on Sunday (Nov 13), was finally found safe along with his boat.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the 70-year-old was found by the local fishermen near Kampung Penat around 12.10am.
The villagers later brought the victim back safely to his family.
According to the man, his outboard engine was damaged and he was washed ashore together with the boat.
Earlier, the man had gone out to sea to fish in the morning and failed to return home at 5.30pm.
His family tried to contact the victim but to no avail thus, prompting the family to lodge a police report.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was then launched to locate the victim.
