SIBU: Thirty motorbike enthusiasts statewide participated in the bike show competition in conjunction with the Sibujaya Bike Week 2023 here today.

They were entered for six categories, namely Cub Standard Modify, Cub Extreme/Racing Modify, Scooter Standard Modify, Scooter Extreme/Racing Modify, Best Airbrush, and Best Sticker.

The winner of each category will bring back a trophy, as well as a hamper and a voucher worth RM100.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai.

Sempurai said the bike show attracted visitors not only from the town but also from Kuching, Sarikei, and Kapit.

“I am impressed and proud of the organisers as they have managed to attract so many participants from outside Sibu. It is in line with the purpose of organising this Sibujaya Bike Week, which is to introduce Sibujaya and Sibu to the people from other areas in Sarawak,” he said in his brief speech.

Sempurai also noted that Sibujaya has become a hub of motorbike competitions.

“As we all know, Sibu has limited interesting tourist attraction spots compared to other places in Sarawak, such as Kuching, Miri, and Bintulu.

“What we have is an area like Sibujaya that has an international standard track (for extreme motocross), so I hope that in the future or next year, we will have a bigger bike show,” he added.
