KAKUS: The top three posts in the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) should not be held by close family members.

This, according to Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, will help ensure allocations are managed well and not misused.

He reminded the District Office to therefore monitor the appointment of JKKK members to ensure the three main positions of Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary do not go to those with close familial ties.

Sikie, who is Kakus assemblyman, said in his constituency Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds are distributed according to need such as for repairing roads and helping residents building new longhouses.

“This assistance is also for associations to carry out various activities that can benefit their respective associations,” he was quoted as saying in an Ukas report during the MRP fund presentation ceremony for the constituency held recently.

In the same ceremony, Sikie handed over MRP cheques amounting to RM267,000 to 12 recipients consisting of associations, JKKKs of longhouses and villages, Women’s Bureau, clubs and the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA).
