KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian officiated at the opening of the Chinese New Year (CNY) market at Kenyalang Park Commercial Centre here yesterday.
The ceremony featured a lion dance performance and distribution of oranges to hawkers and shopkeepers by Sim.
The annual CNY market is open to the public from 5.30pm onwards, giving the opportunity to the people to shop for festive tidbits after working hours.
Present at the opening ceremony yesterday were Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk James Chan Khay Syn and other local community leaders.
