BINTULU: The Sarawak Arts Council is organising a free concert tonight aptly named “Konsert Kamek Sayang Sarawak” featuring popular singers – Baby Shima, Hafiz Suip and Andrewson Ngalai – to entertain the crowd.

To be held at the Old Airport Road here, this concert is divided into two segments, with the first segment starting from 4pm to 6pm while the second segment will start at 8pm.

The general public will be entertained by singers and performers as well as cultural presentations showcasing the state’s various culture.

The other singers are Melissa Francis, Rosiana Urai, Claudia Geres, Firdaus Materang, Roxane and the Cipta Band.

The pre-show will be showcasing Kumpulan Kebudayaan Bintulu, Kumpulan “The Craft”, Mitra Band (a traditional band from Sarawak Arts Council), and Fikon champion – Fikon means Final Konsert, a programme scouting for new singing talents.

This time, previous winners, namely Willy Lengang Tawan, Mohd Sofuan Yusof, Reynold Johan, Nurul Zahnesha Hamli and Sulaiman Usop will entertain the people.

The concert will also, for the first time, feature a 15-minute dance/drama (Dramatari) known as “Sayang Sarawak” as the curtain-raiser with the objective of promoting the history of Sarawak and the road to independence from the people’s perspectives.

The show will end with a fireworks display.
