SPAOH: A single mother has expressed her gratitude to the Sarawak government for building her a new house.

Her previous one was destroyed in a fire last September.

Henipah Tendi, or better known as Buk Pah, said the new house was a timely gift with the Ramadan month just round the corner.

“Thank you to all, especially the Sarawak government, and Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam, as well as the Betong District Office.

“May Allah reward you for your kindness,” said the 68-year-old in between tears.

Recalling the tragedy that happened on Sept 1, Buk Pah said the fire started in the bedroom while she was busy in the kitchen making kuih.

She and her two children were lucky to escape the blaze.

Razi, who attended a “doa selamat” for the new house at Kampung Serembang here, said the construction cost was RM68,000 and that the house came under the “Bina Baharu Rumah” project.

“I thank Gabungan Parti Sarawak for making Buk Pah’s dream come true after she lost her house.”
