Six armed robbery suspects detained

KUCHING: Bau police arrested six suspects for armed robbery in an Ops Cantas operation on Monday evening at two different locations.

The six, aged between 20 and 32, were from Kampung Keranji and Kampung Bunga, Bau.

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon considered the robbery case reported on August 1 solved with the arrest of the six suspects.

Acting on information received, Poge said two suspects were arrested at Jalan Stephen Yong and brought back to the police station for interrogation.

 He said at 6.40pm, police went to a house at Kampung Bunga Ramapi, Siniawan, Bau and arrested four more suspects.

 All the six were detained for further investigation. All of them did not have previous conviction.  Poge said they will be charged under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code which is  punishable with a jail term of 20 years and whipping.
