PADAWAN: Six men faced charges in court on today (Feb 27) after engaging in a heated argument while wielding dangerous weapons at a public parking space in Batu Kawa last week.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 30, were apprehended by the police on the same day as the incident, which occurred on Wednesday (Feb 21).

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad revealed that two of the suspects had 19 prior records and were recently released from prison.

The charges against the individuals include Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

During a press conference held in conjunction with the Padawan district police headquarters annual shooting training at Pulapol Kuching, Supt Abang Zainal Abidin stressed the police’s commitment to maintaining public safety.

Last week, he mentioned the detection of a viral video clip on Telegram depicting the incident.
