KAPIT: The new RM1.52-million three-storey building block of SJK (C) Hock Lam here is now 90 per cent completed and the school’s pupils are expected to move into the 14 new classrooms in the second half of this year.

The construction of the new building block is necessary to replace the dilapidated two-storey wooden blocks after the Public Works Department declared they were unsafe for occupation two years ago.

The school’s building sub-committee held its meeting last Friday afternoon, chaired by Ting King Yiing, to discuss the progress of the project.

He said the new building block was scheduled for completion before June this year.

“We are now calling for open tender to supply the various software and hardware to equip the classrooms, teachers’ room, library, science lab and computer room with the necessary equipment and facilities, including tables, desks, chairs, curtains, blackboards, cabinets, and air-conditioning unit for the computer room,” he said after the meeting.
