KANOWIT: Abdul Haziq Saleh of SMK Agama Sibu won the Sibu-level Secondary School Royal Trophy Oratory Competition 2017 organised by SMK Kanowit here on Friday.

Veronica Chumpin of SMK Rosli Dhoby won the second place while Fauziera Bah of SMK Kanowit was third.

Held at Dewan Mesra, SMK Kanowit, the competition attracted 16 orators from 16 different secondary schools in Sibu.

The competition was divided into two sections. For the first section, the participants had to craft speeches within seven minutes based on a topic that was given earlier on.

For the second section, the participants were given four minutes to talk about a topic given on the spot.

The Principal of SMK Kanowit, Abang Ahmad bin Abang Abdul Wahab, a representative of the Kanowit Education Office, Willy Johnson and SMK Kanowit’s Senior Assistant (curriculum), Jilan Unoh were among those present at the competition.
