KUCHING: It has been a fruitful year for SMK Batu Lintang thus far after they were announced as the champion in a state-level Consumerism Sketch competition held at Mydin Hypermart Petra Jaya.

With yesterday’s victory, apart from taking home a trophy and RM700, the school will represent Sarawak in the national-level competition in November, in conjunction with the National Consumerism Day celebration.

SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1 picked up second place while SMK Pesantren Abdul Taib Mahmud was third.

They took home a trophy each and RM700 and RM500 respectively.

Organised by the Sarawak Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNHEP), the prize presentation was held simultaneously with the launch of the state-level Consumerism Mini Carnival.

The launch was graced by KPDNHEP Sarawak enforcement chief Mohd Hanizam Kechek, who represented Minister Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The competition, which was jointly hosted with the State Education Department, saw students from six secondary schools showcasing their acting talents.
