SMK Sacred Heart continues to excel in academic and co-curricular achievements

SIBU: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sacred Heart remains committed to preparing students for a rapidly changing world, focusing on nurturing advanced performers, global leaders, and enterprising learners.

Speaking at the school’s 20th Annual Speech Day 2023/2024, its principal David Teo lauded the commendable results achieved in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) for 2022.

He highlighted that the results showcase the dedication of both teachers and students, resulting in well-deserved academic success.

“Our school achieved impressive SPM 2022 examination results, demonstrating excellence across various subjects.

“Special mention goes to the outstanding performance in subjects like Geography, Grafik Komunikasi Teknikal, and Prinsip Akaun, where all candidates attained A grades,” he added.

He said this in his speech at the school’s 20th Annual Speech Day 2023/2024 at Sacred Heart Mill Hill De La Salle Centenary Hall here today (Jan 20).

Teo also stressed the school’s commitment to a well-rounded education, evident in the achievements of their students in co-curricular activities.

“In the international arena, our students secured 7 Gold, 3 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals across various competitions, including The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023 and JUMBARA International Youth Gathering 2023.

“At the national level, our students achieved 20 Gold, 5 Silver, and 6 Bronze medals, with additional success in the 2023 National Uniformed Body Team Online Quiz competition,” he said.

He added that their students are also performing well in state and district-level competitions.

Regarding the programme, Teo said that it is to celebrate the accomplishments, recognising the hard work of the students and the dedication of their teaching staff.

“I express my gratitude to the teaching staff for their unwavering commitment, often going beyond the demands of their schedules to ensure student success.

“This celebration is a testament to the exceptional performances and diverse achievements of our students in academics, sports, uniform bodies, and community involvement,” he added.
