SMK St. Joseph Miri holds excellence award ceremony

MIRI: Monsignor Francis Kuleh Usat attended the St. Joseph Secondary School excellence award ceremony, here yesterday (Jan 19).

Francis, who represented the Right Reverend Bishop Richard Ng, praised the students and teachers for their tremendous effort throughout the schooling period.

“I believe with the high commitment, strong unity and support from all sectors, SMK St. Joseph, Miri will be able to realise its vision and mission.

“It is with great hope that this excellence award ceremony will continue as a school tradition to acknowledge and provide hope to the students of the schools to succeed in all the fields.

“May this be a memorable day to all of you for the rest of your lives,” he said.

School principal Peter Use Lenjau took the opportunity to thanked Francis for officiating at the school’s excellence award ceremony.

He hoped that the ceremony will be a starting point to produce excellent students in the future.

“The school has achieved remarkable success in 2022, to name a few, winners in the Squash Miri Open 2022, winners in the MSSS Sarawak Squash Tournament, winners again in the MSSS Sarawak Golf Tournament.

“A third place in the World Pickleball Championship, and third place in the New Zealand Asia Tech Code Camp 2022 and another third place in the MSSM Sailing Championship,” he said in his opening speech.

Peter challenged his students to prove that the success can be continued to greater levels.

“Work hard and ensure the knowledge given by the teachers to acquire success will also bring good name to the school,” he added.

Present at the ceremony were school board of management chairman Bruno Wong Yuk Fong, alumni chairman Gerald Goh Eng Kui and PIBG chairman Mathew Silek.
