KUCHING: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has suspended its secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad and information chief Zakaria Bin Abdul Hamid, with immediate effect.

Incumbent Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng in a Facebook today reiterated that he remains as the legitimately recognised President of PBM.

“According to the records of the Registrar of Society today I am still the legitimately recognised President of PBM,” he said.

He said the decision to suspend the duo, was also in accordance with PBM’s constitution Fasal 60 (iii).

Sng said it was in relation to the supreme council meeting held on October 7, 2022, which was not as per instructed by him as President of the party.

He said the meeting was conducted at the same time as the Budget Speech by the Prime Minister and he was only informed of the outcome after it was held.

“The decision of the meeting was said to have appointed Datuk Zuraida Kamarudin as President, when in fact the position was never vacant,” he said.

“I strongly despise and condemn such political manoeuvring which has undermined the trust of my leadership and have caused confusion to party members and the general public at large,” he added.

As such, Sng said, their positions would be suspended until a disciplinary committee is set up to look into the matter after the election.

In the meantime, PBM deputy secretary- general will take over the function of the secretary-general.
